Can you recommend any good books or resources for someone new to biochemistry?

Do you mean books to share with students about biochemistry? Or textbooks for you to consider for classes?  Certainly ASBMB is a great resource, as are the faculty engaged in the education resources. See the ASBMB page on education.

The  journal BAMBEd has excellent articles on teaching and learning in BMB,  including lab exercises and best practices..  (BAMBED.org)

There are some OA texts for nonmajors.

Thank you for the information Marilee. I will check them. I am relatively a new member in ASBMB and very novel in this group of Education. I hope to participate more in this group in order to share experiences. In my Country we don't have these kinds of groups ( like education or others of ASBMB) with my colleages where we can talk about education and research.
